Manketti & Impepho Hydrating Beauty Scrub 100g
Eva's Khoi'Goed Manketti & Impepho Hydrating Ritual Beauty Scrub is a rejuvenating brown-sugar scrub enriched with local Cape Honey, Cape fynbos (Impepho, cancerbush and honeybush) and African botanicals including Shea butter and Manketti (skin-regenerating mongongo nut oil). The scrub washes away dead skin cells on the body and face, leaving it glowing & moisturised.
Fynbos are plants indigenous to the world's richest floral kingdom, the Cape floral kingdom in South Africa. The Fynbos used in the scrub is Helicrysum Odoratissum, known by indigenous people as Impepho or kooigoed, which means "bedding stuff". In Southern Africa, it is a very important plant for traditional African medicine: -In ritual use, Imphepho is burnt to produce a traditional incense. It is believed to invoke and placate the ancestors and to drive away malicious spirits, regarded as common causes of illness in African traditional medicine. -The leaves and twigs are boiled and prepared as a sort of tea to soothe coughs and fever. -They are also applied to as a wound dressing to prevent infection. -It is still used to provide a soft and aromatic mattress. The essential oil has been scientifically investigated for its anti-microbial, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. The plant has proven anti microbial properties and appears to work effectively as pain relief and as an anti-inflammatory, probably due to various volatile oils and flavanoids. The oils are said to be of great value in healing scars and acne, Imphepho is believed to stimulate cellular regeneration.
